In true unconference fashion the programme for this year is still being dusted down and we hope will be available for you this month. We have some great content to present, including a new song from last year’s star, Robin Burgess, and a keynote speaker confirmed which will be announced shortly!
In the meantime we are excited that the official 2014 Edinburgh Festival Fringe programme will be launched on Thursday so if you have already registered for Repository Fringe you might want to check out what else will be happening in the main Fringe to keep you entertained whilst you’re in town.
Repository Fringe goers may also be interested to hear that one of the key organisers of the event, the Digital Curation Centre (DCC), has organised a training workshop for Friday 1st August to coincide with Repository Fringe at the University of Edinburgh this year!
The DCC has a lot of demand for its Digital Curation 101 workshops which can be organised for individual institutions but this will be a special event open to all who wish to attend. Although part of the DC101 series of workshops, the event on 1st August will be an ‘Introduction to Data Management Planning and DMPonline’ aimed at helping attendees to understand funder requirements for data management and sharing, to understand what a data management plan is and to give participants an awareness of the DCC resource DMPonline, how to use is and how it can be customised by individual institutions – something for which they have seen great demand.
The workshop cost is £30 and includes refreshments and lunch – places are limited and registration is open now.
So if the workshop might benefit your institution, why not extend your trip to cover Repository Fringe and the DCC workshop, then you can indulge in a Friday night (or even a whole weekend!) in the buzz of Edinburgh on it’s first Festival Fringe weekend by enjoying some comedy, some theatre or even just some great street acts?!
